CAROLINA MAZZOLARI DON’T LOOK BACK ORPHEUS
Carolina Mazzolari’s tapestries, with their geometric cuts, evoke the transformation of color and form seen in Orphic Cubism, inspired by Orpheus’ lyre and poetry. Her light, ethereal textiles embody the space between life and death, with plastic wefts in Don’t Look Back Orpheus symbolizing the weight of death and rebirth. The transparent fabrics contrast with geometric patterns, representing the spirits of the dead bridging life’s finite realm. The installation’s bright, airy space captures the moment before Orpheus looks back at Eurydice, turning her into a shadow, suspended between life and death, as natural light surrounds the fabrics.
