BEN CULLEN WILLIAMS DOWN FROM THE SUMMIT
SARP presents Down from the Summit, a new body of work by Ben Cullen Williams, created during his residency in Linguaglossa, Etna North. Williams reimagines landscapes through a fresh lens, exploring themes of the Anthropocene, human fragility, and the dynamic forces of creation and destruction. His work delves into rituals, technology, and the intersection of natural and artificial worlds. During Etna's eruption in July 2024, Williams used a military-grade thermal camera to capture volcanic explosions and his own body, creating hybrid images through algorithms. These images, printed on dyed canvas, symbolize Earth's unseen forces, while video footage reflects artistic evolution and destruction.
