SARP presents The Porous Carriage and Other Beginnings, an exhibition by Pietro Moretti, marking the start of SARP's 2022 autumn season. Born in Rome and trained at UCL Slade, Moretti was the first Italian artist-in-residence at SARP in 2022. His work draws inspiration from Giuseppe Pitré's Sicilian fairy tales and folk traditions, particularly the symbolic carriage, which becomes a vehicle of exploration during his residency. Moretti uses watercolor on paper to blend reality with fantasy, exploring anthropological themes and the spiritual aspect of Sicilian culture. His works convey life’s continuity and the magical, dreamlike power of beginnings.
