LEO ORTA TERRA ETNA
4 April - 10 June 2024 Galleria SARP
SARP presents Leo Orta Sculptures, a new exhibition exploring the concept of erosion through sculptures and paintings. The collection features eight sculptures and four sculptural paintings, inspired by the volcanic landscape. Orta’s work immerses viewers in a world where time, destruction, and regeneration coexist. Observing nature’s adaptation to the harsh volcanic environment, he captures how flora and fauna reclaim the land. Orta’s sculptures, made from cellulose, basalt, and organic fragments, reflect the process of life emerging from barren landscapes. They embody the tension between permanence and dissolution, evoking the ongoing cycle of erosion and renewal. The exhibition invites a silent confrontation between the artwork and viewer, emphasizing an ephemeral relationship that resists domestication. Orta’s practice explores resilience, the struggle for survival, and the quiet negotiation between presence and impermanence.
