KEVIN RAUSCH SEEING THE INVISIBLE

2 - 22 September 2021 Galleria SARP

SARP is pleased to present SARP is pleased to present Kevin Rausch, Seeing the Invisible, exhibition that collects tangible and intangible visual memories of the residency period of the Austrian artist at Palazzo Previtera. The exhibition presents both paintings and sculptures. Kevin Rausch (1980) is an artist from Vienna whose intellectual and artistic formation has been influenced by the artistic and intellectual movement of the avant-gard, profoundly influenced by psychoanalyse (Carl Jung) and phenomenology (Maurice Merleau-Ponty), modifying the way to create art.

In his paintings, the presence of a community of cats that live free, whom becomes metaphors of his imaginal vision of the world that surrounds him, are images outside of a delimited space-time relationship. The non-place or u-topia is the vision of happiness, a freedom in which the artist gets lost and projects the possibilities of a better world, or rather of the many possibilities. In Rausch's sculptures (recycled paper- papier mache), unlike the paintings, the support is instead identified in the current space and time. Its appearance fills a certain extent of the visual field. In this case, the artist carries out the production of a fiction in which he produces the world of objects, the setting, and the characters of a theatrical work, thus allowing the user to participate in this adventure in which art is theatre but it is also life: the lived experience.
The sculptures of Rausch are bodies; as the mass receives its form in multiple ways, they are the "becoming-body" of places, memories, journeys that grant a home to all things and to men a dwelling in the midst of things. To conclude, Rausch's art manifests its soul, inviting the viewer to see beyond the meaning of the signs. His art speaks to the realm of the imaginal world, that particular perspective of things, that intermediate zone between the individual and the eternal world, that reflective moment in which events are transformed into images.
