Mathias Malling Mortensen’s work explores geometric abstraction, emphasizing luminous surfaces through natural and intersecting lines. His paintings reveal the subtle marks of his brushstrokes, distorting the two-dimensional surface and surprising the viewer. In his paper cuttings, Mortensen achieves perfection with each cut, creating harmonious compositions of geometric shapes. Each cut, made with a single gesture, is complemented by carefully applied colors, balancing rawness and precision. Through his paintings and cuttings, Mortensen creates a language of "Inner Sound," where color, form, and shape evoke synesthetic references, allowing the viewer to experience a deeper connection to the work's future possibilities.
